New York-based wedding photographer Lauren OâBrien has photographed couples who have since gotten divorced, and the ones where she âkind of knew it wasnât going to lastâ involved drunk grooms, she said.
OâBrien recalled one drunk groom who got âso intoxicated to the point where during their photo session â which is well before the ceremony in most cases â he couldnât stand up,âshe said. âAnd we had to cut it short, because he ended up throwing up in the bushes… And I did later find out that he had been cheating on her the entire time.â
For photographers, thereâs a difference between drinking on your wedding to toast to a momentous day and drinking to forget where you are.
âObviously have a good time, but I think if youâre sloppy and blackout, I start to go, âOh, I donât know if youâre excited about this anymore,ââ said Cincinnati, Ohio-based wedding photographer Megan Noll. âI had a groom one time where he was just drinking whiskey by the glassful, and the bride got really frustrated, and walked out of the reception.â
