Keep Your Kids Entertained Inside With These 25 Products For Rainy Days

Bananagrams is a small business, too!

Y’all, I used to be a high school English teacher. And whenever I was short on prep-time…Bananagrams. That’s all I’ll say.

New vocabulary or spelling list? Bananagrams. English language learning practice? Bananagrams. Finished an assignment with fifteen minutes left in the class period? Bananagrams.

My favorite Bananagrams variation (that I proudly came up with on the fly one day) called “Nonsense Bananagrams,” where my students were tasked with the challenge of creating and pronouncing entirely made-up words to help them get the hang of phonics and practice sounding things out. (FYI, having kids read made up words to you is a *great* way to accurately check on their language decoding skill development, because there is no way they could have memorized the way a fake word looks).

Check out this quick video guide on the rules of regular Bananagrams.

Promising review: “My son had this on his Christmas wish list, so I bought it for him. I am so mad that I didn’t try this game earlier. I am 100% obsessed with this game now. It is so much fun and easy to play. It helps my kiddos with spelling and sounding out words too, which is just a great bonus!” —Kkersten
